Do Voodoo Dolls really work? Which doll(s) should I get?

Yes, Voodoo dolls do work!! But it is you as the practitioner who "works" the doll or any other focusing tool. Voodoo Authentica suggests that you order a full Voodoo Ritual Kit, instead of a doll on its own, so that you may familiarize yourself with some magical basics that are included in the kit’s instructions. It is highly recommend that you read the book Jambalaya by Voodoo Priestess Luisah Teish, in order to gain a better understanding of what focusing tools, such as dolls, are used for and how they are used.

Voodoo Authentica offers a selection of 40+ authentic Voodoo dolls. Each doll is made by local New Orleans Artists, Spiritualists, Healers and/or Voodoo Practitioners. Each of these individuals has been sought out because of the time, love, energy and care which they put into the creation of each and every unique item. If you follow the instructions that come with each doll, you and the dolls will work your magic together.

Is magic real? Do spells really work?

Yes, magic is real and yes, spells do work. They are both a large part of many people’s everyday lives!

Spells & Magic have been used successfully throughout history to accomplish a variety of goals. The effectiveness of every spell depends on several factors. Primarily, the responsibility for a spell’s success or failure lies in the hands of the practitioner; it is his/her sheer will and desire to achieve the magical goal and their ability to creatively visualize and deeply focus on that goal that makes all the difference in the world! This is definitely the first, main and most important ingredient you’ll need when working magic: YOUR WILL.

Many practitioners incorporate elements of their Spirituality (they ask for some type of Divine Intervention & Assistance in their ritual) and personal belief systems in their magical workings. Often, before a spell or ritual is performed, the magician will do research (gathering information on planetary positions, moon phases, herbs, colors, days, times, etc.) in order to have all the right influences supporting them. We include plenty of this "extra info" with every spell you receive from Voodoo Authentica of New Orleans. Be that as it may, it is still important for you to do your own research and to incorporate your own beliefs into your magic to make it uniquely yours (it is then that your spells will be most effective).

Authentic local Voodoo practitioners wrote all our Spells. Some of them are new and were created by today’s Voodooists; others are much older and were passed down for generations. Practitioners have performed them all successfully time and time again. We wish you the same success in your magical workings that we have enjoyed in ours. Remember to be patient when first starting; you are developing a skill and like any skill worth having, it takes time and "trial and error" to get it right. You’ll find though, that the rewards of "getting it right" will be well worth the time you spent along the way!

Do Voodoo Authentica Dolls and other Voodoo objects do harm or hurt people?

None of the Voodoo Authentica Dolls or other items should be feared. Only "good energy" is put into the dolls as they are being made and we can be sure of this, because we know all of the local New Orleans Artists, Spiritualists, Healers and/or Voodoo Practitioners, who make them personally. They are all close and trusted friends who we respect and who definitely are "people of light."

How does Voodoo Authentica make Voodoo objects?

These are all practitioner-made items. This work is not a sideline for Voodoo Authentica people; it is their art form, their Spirituality, their living, all in one. If you go to an authentic practitioner (not a "charlatan") here in New Orleans, the cost is much higher than these Internet prices to have a bag, a charm or a potion made. Also, our ingredients are the finest. Top grade herbs, the best essential oils, etc. Our crafts and other unique items are all handmade, one at a time. Each doll has a personality, every potion is hand-blended in small batches; all of our items are Blessed, everything is local (no "Made in Japan" dolls!), you get the picture.

There is simply no comparison to our merchandise elsewhere on the Internet, that I am aware of. That’s because we believe in what we’re doing, have great respect for Voodoo and its practitioners and take our time to do things right. Voodoo Authentica of New Orleans is a "grassroots" company run by locals, primarily for locals. We know it is much more expensive to have the local community of artists, Spiritualists, Voodooists, etc., working with us; sure, we could buy "Voodoo dolls" from overseas, or have them made by God knows who, putting God knows what kind of energy into the items. Doing that would defeat the purpose of this business, which was started to promote local New Orleanians, their authentic/creative arts and crafts and the Voodoo religion.

Which country in Africa is most associated with the practice of Voodoo?

Benin, formerly "Dahomey", is known as "the cradle of Voodoo". Daagbo Hounon, known as the "Pope of Voodoo" lives in Ouidah, Benin. Recommended reading: Jambalaya by Voodoo Priestess Luisah Teish.

How to properly dispose of Cursed Dolls & Objects?

On a Saturday, place the doll (or object) in a clean white cloth, dig a hole in the earth, far away from your home (on Hallowed ground if possible), place the cloth wrapped dolls in the hole and burn them. Then, cover the ashes which remain with Holy Water or May Water and cover the hole over with the dirt. The earth will recycle that negative energy very quickly and turn it into positively and Blessings. When you return home afterwards, bathe very well, adding some Holy Water or May Water to your bath.
